Dr Mahadeva Prasad

I am Dr Prasad, a specialist GP and a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. I will be consulting regularly at VictaHealth and look forward to being able to work with you to achieve your health goals.

I moved from Queensland to Western Australia with my family in 2020 and I have been working in the Wheatbelt region. Prior to moving, I lived in the wonderful Atherton tablelands, Cairns and the sugar capital Mackay in Queensland. This has given me varied exposure to work in rural and regional Australia.

After medical school in India, I pursued postgraduate training in Orthopaedics and have enjoyed working in the United Kingdom until 2008.

Since moving to General practice work in 2014, I have worked in different health settings and can appreciate the complexities of supporting health care in the community. This inspired me to be part of a centre that focuses on holistic and collaborative health care.

I am humbled to be able to look after varied presentations across all ages and have continuity of care, which makes my General practice career fulfilling.

I have been actively involved in teaching medical students through Rural Clinical School. My strong interest in teaching makes every opportunity to teach a purposeful interaction for young doctors and nurses.

I have a special interest in Musculoskeletal conditions, Chronic disease management, Men’s health, Skin cancers, and Preventative health. I am upskilling in skin cancer surgery, and my surgical background supports this very well.

Working in an Indigenous Health care set-up, and experience of working in rural locations has brought me much joy. I look forward to setting up work at Victahealth and participating in community engagement for health at every opportunity.

I come from Bengaluru in South India and can speak Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam.
